Tutorial Session 5 and 6

Tutorial 5-

In our fifth tutorial we discussed the relevance of click tracks and metronomes for some of the tracks and interesting points of study like Tape Op and Mixerman.

Tutorial 6

In our final tutorial we met with David to show him our mixes and discuss any changes that needed it be made. Overall not much needed to be done. His advice was mostly to use maxim on the master fader. and just general level balancing.

Tutorial 3

During this weeks tutorial we discussed what elements we would like to improve on so that we could decide on our own individual learning outcomes. We also discussed starting to design a map/schedule to work to. This is to help keep us and other people we work with organised. For example, arranging a time where we have booked a practice room and are able to teach and practice the song with any session musicians so that by the time we go to record we can have a good smooth session. This saves time and will ensure we get the best performance.

Tutorial 1 & 2

For our first tutorial we discussed all of our ideas and narrowed it down to one. Our idea is so create a research album inspired by the production of Will Yip at Studio 4. We hope to create 5/6 songs each inspired by a song from an artist whose album was produced by Will Yip at Studio 4. For each of these songs we plan to use comparative research and secondary research.

By week 2 we had looked into a few bands that we would like to use as references. For example three of our songs will most likely be based upon music from Code Orange, Title Fight and Citizen. We also spoke about possible personal learning outcomes such as managing a recording session confidently, time management and logistics. For next week we would like to have specific songs picked for reference material, find out more information about studio 4 and have our draft learning outcomes and overall objectives completed.
